Ductile Compression 29

2018- Carbon Steel, Iron, Bronze, 31.5″ X 19″ X 12.75”

Permanent Collection: National Ornamental Metals Museum, Memphis, TN, USA

Layers of iron and steel are superheated and subjected to massive pressure as an analog to geological processes. As mountains rise, fractures and folds expand through the Earth’s crust. With exposure to the atmosphere, organic textures are eroded, and underlying structures are revealed.
